General Election 2015

On May 7th, the same day as the General Election, we looked at each party's manifesto and decided who we would vote for. We had some very interesting discussions about this - but we were able to disagree with each other in a friendly and respectful way!
Picture 1 We read a brief version of each party's Manifesto.
Picture 2 Next, we used our ballot papers to choose a party.
Picture 3 Finally, we posted out papers in the ballot box.

And the winner of the Class 5 Election is...

Labour

Congratulations! The break-down of votes was as follows:

Labour 42.0%

Conservative 21.1%

Liberal Democrat 21.1%

Plaid Cymru 15.8%

UKIP 0%

Green Party 0%

SNP 0%

R.S.P.B. visit:

The RSPB visited, to help us count bugs in our school garden.

We were then able to tally them and estimate which kinds of bugs were the most common. Here are some of our photos:

Cardiff Castle trip:

We visited Cardiff Castle to find out what life was like in Victorian times.

We even found out what it was like to be a Victorian servant!

Big Pit trip:

We had a great day out at Big Pit National Coal Museum, in Blaenafon. We learned what it was like for miners to work at the coal face for up to 12 hours each day. We even heard that children as young as 5 or 6 would work in the mines each day and would be paid 1 penny!
