Healthy Snack- Please make sure you bring fruit or vegetables and a water bottle every day.

Homework: Weekly spellings are now on HWB J2e-J2blast-Spellblast for child to learn and weekly maths homework will be available on ABACUS active learn. Please support your child to complete the weekly activities. You child should have brought home their passwords and usernames. If you have any problems or questions you can email me and I will be happy to help. 

Rainbow Breathing-Self Regulation

We have been looking at ways of staying in the Green Zone! 🙂

We learnt a new technique called Rainbow Breathing. It can help us feel calm and ready for learning. 🌈

We also made breathing wands to help control our breathing!

We made books to welcome new children to our school! 🤗

A big well done to all of class 1! We had a fantastic sports day! 🏆 We balanced eggs, sorted balls into hoops, threw bean bags into hoops, threw rockets and even jumped over hurdles. It was exhausting but lots and lots of fun!!! Well done to Caerdydd for coming 1st! 🥇

This half-term we will be thinking about how we can welcome everyone to our school.
 

Refugee Week 2021

This week we have read the story ‘My name is not refugee’ and written letters to a little boy called Ali, a refugee coming to Cardiff. We had fun learning the text map and then writing letters to Ali sharing information about ourselves.🙂

We celebrated our names in year 1 by creating wax resistant paintings. Watch us revealing our names using water colours! 🖌🎨

We have also learnt a new song for Refugee Week. It has been such a busy week!🎶

Summer 1- Minibeast Mansions 🦋🐜🐌

We loved making bug hotels to finish off our Minibeast topic! We used what we have learnt this to make areas suitable for different bugs! We can’t wait till after our half-term break to see how many bugs have moved in! 🐛🐞🕷🐜

This week we had lots of fun painting our clay snails! 

Look at our spiral snail shells. We used chalks to create our snail shell patterns!

Eid Mubarak!

We had lots of fun today finding out how we all celebrated Eid at home. We enjoyed having our own celebration too, which involved eating lots of delicious cake 🍰 Yum!! We think we look so smart in our new Eid clothes, we hope you agree!

It has been fantastic to have all of Year 1 back for face to face learning. We have had a brilliant start to term thinking about friendships. Below you will find an overview of what we are learning which I will update each week. You do not have to do this work at home as we will be completing it in school. But you can use it as a guide to support your child at home if your child needs to isolate. 

All weekly homework will now be found on Seesaw. I will put on 1 literacy, 1 numeracy and 1 reading activity to complete each week linked to our learning.

I have sent out emails today with your codes to access activities on Seesaw. You will be directed to complete these activities on the home learning weekly planning document which I upload here on our class page on a Monday morning. 

Click on the Seesaw link below. Click I am a student and then type your unique code in the text code box and you are ready to go! Any problems just send me an email and I will try my best to help you!

Welcome back!

This half term we will be continuing with the book 'Here we are'. Each week I will provide an overview of the things we will be doing in school, to support you with 'home or distance learning'. You can use this overview to help and support your child by talking about their learning or practising the skills further you do not need to complete these activities unless your child is learning from home.

We have been busy helping our new alien friend Clanger. He wants to know all about Earth!
