Inventors, Innovators and Imaginators!
Spring Term
This term we are learning all about significant people and periods of time throughout history and the impact they have had on our history. We have started our journey as imaginators; immersing ourselves for the day as our favourite book characters and even the teachers performed a story for us! We are inventing and creating our own stories and had a wonderful time working with the Wales Millennium Centre to produce our own shadow theatre performing on the stage in front of Key Stage 2 and our families. In our Science lessons, we have looked at the development of light and the inventors behind them including Thomas Edison and have created investigations about reflective surfaces and shadows. We have started our timeline adventure with the Celts including research on Boudicca who was an inspiration to her tribe and continues to be 1000's of years later!
We will continue our learning through different time periods including the Romans, Normans, Victorians and investigate the inventions and significant people from those time periods.
Autumn Term
Our Context for the Autumn Term was the Rugby World Cup! We have been researching about the different countries that are taking part along with the players of the Welsh National Team. We visited the Principality Stadium and had a tour of this fantastic stadium which we then recounted for our Literacy Learning. We have studied Japanese artists, compared Wales and Japan, looked at features of both countries and developed a real love for playing rugby. We have also taken part in our own Tag Rugby Tournament and even had some of the Cardiff Blues players come and award us our medals!
