Welcome to Class 2's (Miss Thomas' learning group)

Home Learning Page

 

Here you will find a weekly plan of activities to do so you can continue your learning at home.

There will be a daily maths and literacy activity as well as a weekly topic activity for you to complete.

 

If there is work set on Google Classroom I will direct you there in the plan and you will need to use your hwb login details for this. However, please check our google classroom daily for fun activities and opportunities for you to share what you have been doing. 

There will also be lots of maths games on active learn for you to play! Once you have completed the games I will continue to add some more.

You can now go to j2blast on j2e in hwb and practise your spellings and times tables. It's lots of fun!

Practise your times tables on j2blast!

Go to hwb, j2e, j2blast and then click Ttblast.

Start with levels 1 - 3 (2, 5 and 10 x times tables) and I will check on your scores!

Welcome to wk 14

The weather is lovely this weekend! laugh

I have uploaded this week's Home learning plan with the resources needed underneath.

In Maths we will be revising our Multiplication and division skills and in Literacy we will continuing with Poetry writing about Sea Creatures.

Remember there are Maths games on the active learn website and your weekly spelling will be on j2 blast on hwb.

Hello and welcome to week 13!

Well done to all of the hard work I have been seen or been sent this week. It has been great to see!

It has been lovely to see some children return to school and talk to them over the phone this week for their catch up

and check in too! laugh

 

This week's literacy work will continue to focus on poems and using interesting adjectives.

Our Maths work will focus on adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers.

Hello and welcome to week 12!

This week we will be looking at the story of The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister.

In literacy we will be thinking about the importance of friendship and writing an acrostic poem.

In Maths we will be working on doubling and halving 2 digit numbers, 1/2 and 1/4 fractions of numbers and practising our 3 times tables.

Hi Everyone - Welcome to wk 11

Thank you for all of the e-mails, posts on google classroom and photos of your work from last wk. I am so proud of all your hard work!

In Maths this week we will revising the value of coins and adding a number of coins together to make a total using £ and p.

Hello- welcome to wk 10

Well done on another week of hard work Year 2! smiley

This week we will looking at the book The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. In Literacy you will be designing an information poster for how to look after yourself when in the Sunshine and warm weather. In Maths we will be working on using our number bonds to add and subtract 2-digit numbers. I have uploaded new Maths games on active learn for you to play and the spelling list is on j2blast for you to practice. The assignment Maths Addition and Subtraction Assignment is also on Google Classroom for you to type up your work. I can't wait to see your work!

 

 

Hello - Welcome to Week 9.

For our Learning from home tasks this week we will be looking at the story of Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson. 

In Maths we will be developing our place value skills and adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers.

I have uploaded more games on the active learn website for you to play. Look out for the games called; Sea-shack Smash, Treetop Topple and Tumble-down Den. You can also practise this week's spelling list on j2blast on hwb.

Wonderful Whale Facts ...

Hello - Welcome to Week 8

I hope you are all staying safe and well.

The weather has been so lovely this week, I have been planting lots of flowers and vegetables in my garden. Our topic this half term will be all about the seaside. Friday 5th June is World Environmental Day and we will be thinking about how we can look after our Wonderful World. 

Our Maths will be measurement - measuring in cm and telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes.

Our Literacy work will be based around the book Dear Greenpeace written by Simon James. Please complete the work on Google Classroom under the assignment title 'Wonderful Whales'.

The topic task this week is to make a seaside in a jar. I am going to make one too!

Please e-mail photos of your jar and your Maths work in particular - I would love to see it!

Look at your Brilliant Bee work!

Hello - Welcome to week 7.

This week is all about the Brilliant Bees for our literacy work and multiplication and division in maths.

Please have a look at j2blast on hwb in j2e. It is a great way of practising your times tables and I have uploaded your weekly spelling lists including this week's for you to practise. This will be a great way for me to see how you are doing learning them. It is good fun too!

There are also new games added to active learn this week. We are also taking part in the joy of moving festival this week and I have included a fun game for you to play with your families in the planning.

This week's planning is based around the book 'What the Ladybird Heard' by Julia Donaldson.

The maths is 3d shape and data handling and Literacy is based around ladybird facts.

I have also added new games and levels to previous games on the active learn games for you to play.

Easter Holidays

The next 2 weeks are the Easter Holidays so enjoy spending this time with your families!

You can continue to play the maths games on active learn, access free reading books on the oxford owl website and finish any work on google classroom if you need to. Well done Class 2 on all of your hard work this term - you are superstars!

 

It is great to see the work you have done so far on active learn and Google Classroom.

I will upload the Week 3 planning sheet onto this class page on Monday 20th April.

Don't forget to show your family the Easter card you made!

Our trip to St Fagan's Museum Trip

Year 1 and Year 2 had a fantastic time on our school trip and we learned a lot about shopping in the past. Mrs Thomas the shopkeeper explained that there is only one small shop where all of the items were bought. 

Spring Term

My Wales, Your Wales, Our Wales.

This half term we will be looking at Welsh life in the past and visiting St Fagans Museum to explore how people went shopping in the past, visiting our local shop in Butetown and exploring Welsh Castles in preparation for Our St David's Day Eisteddfod Competition!

 

Autumn Term

Our topic this half term is 'Once upon a time...'

We have been reading lots of traditional tales, written recipes for Carrot Soup and performed some of our own fantastic stories!
